जैसे-जैसे बूढ़ा आदमी कमजोर और बीमार होता गया, वह अपने बेटों के भविष्य को लेकर चिंतित रहने लगा। उसने कई बार उन्हें समझाया और जिम्मेदारी लेने के लिए कहा, लेकिन बेटों ने उसकी बातों पर ध्यान नहीं दिया।
आखिरकार, बूढ़े आदमी ने उन्हें एक सबक सिखाने की ठानी। उसने अपने चारों बेटों को बुलाया और कहा, “मेरे प्यारे बेटों, मैंने हमारे खेत में एक खजाना छिपा रखा है। उसमें सोने के सिक्के और कीमती रत्न हैं। जब मैं नहीं रहूंगा, तो तुम उसे खोजकर आपस में बराबर बांट लेना।”
खजाने की बात सुनकर बेटे बहुत खुश हुए। लेकिन उनकी खुशी कम हो गई जब बूढ़े ने कहा, “मुझे ठीक से याद नहीं है कि मैंने खजाना कहाँ छिपाया है, लेकिन इतना तय है कि वो हमारे खेत में ही कहीं है।”
कुछ दिनों बाद बूढ़ा आदमी चल बसा। बेटों ने तुरंत खेत की खुदाई शुरू कर दी ताकि खजाना ढूंढ सकें। वे दिन-रात मेहनत करते रहे, हर कोना खोदा, लेकिन खजाना नहीं मिला।
आखिरकार, उन्होंने खेत के एक हिस्से को खोदा जो बाकी जगहों से अलग लग रहा था। वहां से उन्हें खजाना तो नहीं मिला, लेकिन पानी का एक स्रोत जरूर मिल गया। यह देखकर एक राहगीर ने उन्हें सलाह दी कि इस जमीन और पानी का इस्तेमाल खेती के लिए करें।
हालांकि बेटे निराश थे कि उन्हें खजाना नहीं मिला, लेकिन उन्होंने राहगीर की सलाह मान ली। उन्होंने खेत में सब्जियां और पौधे उगाने शुरू किए। कुछ ही हफ्तों में वह बंजर जमीन एक हरी-भरी उपजाऊ खेत में बदल गई।
जब फसल तैयार हुई, तो उन्होंने सब्जियां बेचकर बहुत अच्छा पैसा कमाया। तभी उन्हें अपने पिता की बात का असली मतलब समझ में आया। उनके पिता ने जो “खजाना” बताया था, वह असल में मेहनत का फल था।
उस दिन से चारों भाइयों ने अपनी आलसी आदतें छोड़ दीं और मेहनत का महत्व समझा। वे खेती करते रहे, खुशहाल जीवन बिताया और हमेशा सुखी रहे।

The Hidden Treasure
Once upon a time, there was an old man who had four sons. Unfortunately, all four were very lazy and relied on luck instead of hard work to meet their needs.
As the old man grew older and weaker, he became deeply worried about his sons’ future. Despite his repeated advice and warnings, his sons refused to change their ways or take responsibility.
Finally, the old man decided to teach them an important lesson. Calling them to his bedside, he said, “My dear sons, I have hidden a treasure box filled with gold coins and precious gems on our land. After I pass away, you may find it and divide it equally among yourselves.”
Hearing about the treasure, the sons were thrilled, but their joy was dampened when the old man confessed, “I don’t remember exactly where I buried the box, but I’m certain it’s somewhere on our land.”
A few days later, the old man passed away. The sons, motivated by the thought of riches, decided to dig every inch of their land to find the treasure. They worked tirelessly, digging and searching day and night, something they had never done before.
Despite their efforts, they couldn’t find any treasure box. Instead, they ended up digging deep enough to uncover a hidden water source on their land. A wise passerby noticed the water and advised them to use the fertile land and abundant water to cultivate crops.
The brothers, though disappointed at not finding the treasure, decided to follow the passerby’s advice. They sowed vegetable seeds, planted greens, and cared for the land. Within weeks, the barren land transformed into a lush, fertile farm filled with nutritious vegetables and vibrant plants.
When the harvest was ready, they sold the produce at a good price and earned more money than they had ever imagined. At that moment, the brothers realized the true meaning of their father’s words. The “treasure” he referred to was not a box of riches but the rewards of hard work and persistence.
From that day on, the four brothers overcame their laziness and embraced the value of hard work. They continued farming, earning a prosperous livelihood, and lived happily ever after.
